The K-band Doppler radar uses CW radar modulation to detect the movement of various objects or people. Depending on the object’s RCS (Radar Cross Section) value, it detects movement within a range of up to 30 meters. The radar operates in the 24 GHz frequency band and can be used worldwide.
The IPS-355 also measures speed. The radar module uses dual-channel operation to determine the direction of movement. The front end employs a split transmit and receive path to maximize antenna sensitivity. The IPS-355 is equipped with an IF amplifier to improve signal strength. A bandpass filter reduces the radar sensor’s bandwidth to minimize signal noise. The IPS-355 is designed for automation applications in industrial and building technology. One example is its integration into escalators to control them based on the movement of passengers and pedestrians.
InnoSenT, a related product, is the IPS-354 radar sensor. The sensors differ in antenna design and the resulting field of view for motion detection.
